Recently, the Lower Wonga photovoltaic-storage, integrated project in Australia, undertaken by Gotion High-Tech, officially commenced construction. With a storage capacity of 281 MW/843 MWh, the project is one of the largest DC-DC coupled photovoltaic storage systems currently in Australia. The overall plan includes a 380 MWdc photovoltaic system with integrated energy storage, expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2028. Located in Queensland, Australia, the project is fully funded and developed by the international integrated energy company Lightsource BP. Based on annual power generation estimates, once completed, the project’s clean energy output will meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 126,000 local households, continuously supplying stable renewable electricity to the Australian national electricity market. This will help reduce regional dependence on thermal power, enhance the integration capacity of new energy sources, and improve the overall stability of grid operations.
